As Board Members of the She Dreams In Color Foundation, this group leads the organization's work to increase access to mental health therapy for marginalized women in Charlotte. Our Board Member are leaders in our community and they represent a variety of lived experiences which influence their impactful decision making.
Our Board is comprised of women who take mental health care seriously, who openly share their own mental health journey to remove stigma, and who are up for the challenge of achieving our goal of 10,000 hours of therapy donated.
Each Board Member is committed to a $1,000 give/get annually, service on designated Committees, facilitating one Postcards to Future Self booth each year, sharing their personal stories of resilience and mental health value, and representing our organization in the community among the spaces they occupy.
Advising Therapists

Since before our organization was officially formed in 2022, we have consulted Licensed Mental Health Professionals to identify what they and their clients need most.
Every impactful decision for community care we've made has included the direction and advice of our Advising Therapist members.
Because She Dreams In Color Foundation intentionally seeks to serve, uplift, include, and represent the experiences of all women in our community, our Advising Therapists are vital to our ongoing cultural sensitivity and awareness.
In addition, our Advising Therapists lend valuable expertise that ensures our organization is staying up-to-date on best practices, needs in Charlotte and needs within their private practices.
Jennifer Moxley
Founder & Executive Director

While Jennifer is known for her work as a Communications Professional, she has more than 27 years of experience in the nonprofit world. For three years, she was Executive Director of the United Way of Stanly County, responsible for a $500,000 annual campaign. She was Vice-Chair and Founding Member of the HUD Continuum of Care to secure Federal funding to combat homelessness in the Piedmont. She was a Founding Board Member and served as Secretary for Homes of Hope transitional housing in Stanly County. Her entire career, she's served on boards and has donated or volunteered with countless organizations in the region. In 2022, she held her 6th Annual #GiftBackBirthday which raised $7,900 for the She Dreams In Color Foundation and which previously benefited five other Charlotte nonprofits.
Her vision of launching She Dreams In Color Foundation started in 2016 but took until 2022 to formalize as a 501(c)3. After spending $8,000 out of pocket in 2021 for weekly therapy sessions which healed a lifetime of trauma that began in childhood, Jennifer knew she had to prioritize her mission to help other women receive care.
For three years, her company Sunshine Media Network, fully funded administration staffing and the production of the interview series to give the Foundation a solid start.
Mental Health Therapy Funded Partners
How it works
She Dreams In Color Foundation funds Charlotte-based private practices that serve our community at $100 an hour and an eight session care plan to provide care to marginalized women. It's estimated 75% of therapists are women and 25% self-identify as minorities, therefore our funds will also benefit women-owned businesses in our community. The need for mental health funding is great as our funds don't cover the full cost of care. The North Carolina average hourly rate for mental health care is $135-$160/hr. We require the practice have a variety of credentialed providers to ensure women being served have a choice of provider and stability in care. The Board of Directors voted to define marginalized as a Black, Hispanic, Indigenous, Asian American, Pacific Islander, or other woman of color, living below the Federal Poverty level living in health disparity zip codes.
Our Mission
She Dreams In Color Foundation raises money to provide access to free and significantly reduced-cost mental health therapy. Our Foundation also works to destigmatize mental health needs and seeking care. As part of our work, we organize community events that help reduce loneliness and social isolation while using art and storytelling.
