Postcards to Future Self
Through commissioned art pieces turned into Postcards, we set up at events and with program partners across Charlotte to have one-on-one conversations about mental health. Postcards to Future Self uses a third-person, future speak mental health modality to encourage participants to take time and write their "future self" a postcard.
She Dreams In Color Foundation collects the postcards and then mails them back to the participant in two months.

Since creating this program in 2024, which destigmatizes mental health needs and seeking care,
we've commissioned six women artists in Charlotte, we've set up at 21 events, and have mailed 682 postcards.

"Work of Art"
Dap Designz
Dominique Prescott
2022
When our organization began, our founder wanted a piece of art that represented our mission. Art is the spoonful of sugar we use to have conversations around mental health.
Graphic designer Dominique Prescott was commissioned and designed this piece which reminds women they are a "Work of Art" perfectly, imperfect and a work in progress. This design became our first "Postcard to Future Self" and was our "I Am" keepsake at our 2024 "Queen's Tea Party"

"Whirlwind of Grace"
Art By Dio
Dioveris Lopez
2023
For our first Queen's Tea Party in 2023, Dioveris Lopez was commissioned to live paint during our program to capture the essence of our premiere signature program event. This is the first piece Dio created for us based off the energy she felt.

"Ebb & Flow"
Art By Dio
Dioveris Lopez
2023
Moved by the testimonials, healing sound therapy, and stories, Dioveris Lopez also live painted this piece during our first Queen's Tea Party in 2023 based off the energy she was feeling through our program. The Queen's Tea Party is a program of our organization held each May.

"Dream In Color"
2024
In 2022, DeNeer Davis was a guest on our She Dreams In Color Interview Series to share her Occupation & Obstacle. In 2024, DeNeer held a #GiftBackBirthday to raise money for our work by selling art and matching funds raised leading up to her documentary premiere. A long time supporter of our organization, DeNeer created this commissioned piece for our Founder.

"Luminous Sisterhood"
2024
Intuitive artist Laura Knopp was commissioned to create this piece for our 2024 Queen's Tea Party, our annual signature program. Laura specializes in healing art and was inspired by the diversity of our community of women to paint three women standing together. Laura welcomed our Tea Party guests to personally draw their own star in the sky so their presence would forever be captured in this artwork.

"Harmony in Sisterhood"
Soul Harmony Art
Umayal Annamalai
2025
Board member Umayal Annamalai was commissioned to create this piece for our 2025 Queen's Tea Party, our annual signature program. Umayal shares her South Indian tradition of kolam patterns and how it connects harmony in women's mental health. At our Tea Party, guests added their own dot to the piece so their presence would forever be captured in this artwork.
