Postcards to Future Self

We commissioned art from Charlotte women art entrepreneurs and turned them into Postcards. Participants write themselves an encouraging and hopeful note and we mail it back to them in two months. Postcards to Future Self uses a third-person, future speak mental health modality to encourage participants to take time and write their "future self" a postcard. Working with program partners across Charlotte this interactive art experience allows our Mental Health First Aid and/or QPR trained program leaders to have one-on-one conversations about mental health with each participant.

Since creating this program in 2024, which destigmatizes mental health needs and seeking care, we've commissioned seven Charlotte women artists, have been at more than 25 events, and have mailed 700+ postcards.

When our organization began, our founder wanted a piece of art that represented our mission. Art is the spoonful of sugar we use to have conversations around mental health.

Graphic designer Dominique Prescott was commissioned and designed this piece which reminds women they are a "Work of Art" perfectly, imperfect and a work in progress. This design became our first "Postcard to Future Self" and was our "I Am" keepsake at our 2024 "Queen's Tea Party"
